UNCork & COOK!  Recreational cooking classes Minimum of 4 participants 

  Our UNCork classes are recreational in nature; equal parts relaxed fun and learning!  All start with a seasonally inspired topic,

designed to expose you to various techniques, along with a few knife skills and an assortment of spice profiles. No cooking experience necessary! Menus changes weekly/seasonally. Prices per class listed on calendar, and are based on class theme/ingredients. 

We provide:

  • The fresh foods to be cooked-seasonally inspired.

  • Aprons & bottled water

  • Pre-printed recipes

  • An equipped  & fully stocked kitchen

  • Along with detailed instruction and demonstration by our chef instructors

You bring your beverage of choice and spirit of adventure - class finishes up with a taste of all you make. Approximate class time 2.5 hours.

YOU are the CONFIDENT COOK: 3 part hands-on cooking series -BY APPOINTMENT-call us!

At our kitchen-175.00 p/person (group rates available) Minimum of 3 participants-for all 3 classes.

Become the confident cook you’ve always wanted to be- turning out simple to spectacular meals and spreading the love of home cooking!

 In this mini culinary-school you’ll learn to chop & dice, saute and sous vide while creating dishes using fresh, seasonal ingredients. Whether you’re a beginner or looking to expand your culinary repertoire, you will walk away from this series with an abundance of stove top essentials

     Building a Foundation Session 1:

You’ll work alongside classmates honing knife skills as we prep a variety of fresh ingredients(and learn the why it matters!), moving onto simple baking from scratch -where you will gain an understanding of heat, steam,  and how ingredients work together to create those wonderful sweet treats, and finish with our intro to stove top cooking. 

    Expanding Your Repertoire Session 2:

Next, you will roast in the oven and stove top, get into searing, poaching and create accompanying pan sauces, glazes and vinaigrettes  Working on our timing, organizing meal components & learning what it takes to "bring it all together" will round out your exploration in this session.

    Advanced Techniques Session 3:

Bridal Shower Shindig or New Mom Dinner n Dash  -BY APPOINTMENT-call us!

OR WE CAN TAKE THIS ON THE ROAD TO YOUR KITCHEN! (ADD 3.00 P/P)

Your friends and the Mom or Bride-to-Be will all appreciate this fun, new twist on the traditional shower party; our half day  classes ( 4 hours) are unique and a thoughtful way to help the Future Mom or Future Bride fill her freezer with a good meal before the big day arrives.

 

Under our guidance, your group will prepare a delicious and satisfying meal for two designed to be frozen and then enjoyed post-delivery or post-wedding- when cooking is the last thing on the minds of new moms, dads or newlyweds. AND you won't go hungry either, as you'll spend part of the time creating the meal and the rest of the time sampling the tasty food you've prepared!

 

Family Cooking Classes -BY APPOINTMENT-call us!

It's two and a half hours of hands-on cooking with food tasting. Classes include all foods to be prepared, instruction, equipment & aprons, bottled water & recipes to take home. 

 

Mom, Dad, Auntie, Uncle and all the kids: you can come to our kitchen or we will come to yours. This family cooking experience is a great way to enjoy each other’s company, gather to celebrate or commemorate a special occasion or just have some fun together creating dinner! Call us—we can make up a menu to suit your needs.  Call for prices if you would like us to come to you!

Yoga Health & Cooking Retreat (1 night, 1 day) -BY APPOINTMENT-call us!

Come to the Gorge to rejuvenate, relax and do a bit of cooking! Expand your breath, your body and inspiration in our instructed yoga class. Enjoy an inspiring breakfast, participate in a chef-led, hands-on cooking experience, and have free time to immerse yourself in the local beauty that is New River Gorge. 

 

Friday evening: Evening Welcome- light reception and bon fire, time to settle in to your accommodations.

 

Saturday Morning: Start off with proteins and smoothies (and a brief discussion of foods to assist the body with detoxification and provide greater energy). Share in a group Yoga class, lead by a local certified instructor—no previous yoga experience required. Free time to explore the Gorge (we are located in the heart of NRG National Park).

 

Saturday afternoon: Re-join the group mid-day & start cooking! Participate in the hands-on cooking class, enjoy tastings, demonstrations and take home recipes. During the preparation of a 3-course meal, we will discuss healthy switch-outs and alternatives for the everyday. Class consists of: brief discussion & demonstration, cooking time and, of course, sitting down and enjoying your prepared recipes.

Things You Should Know About Our Classes

  • All classes are for students aged 18 or over—but we do classes for youngsters, as well- Please contact for details and ideas. 

  • In our hands-on classes, students prepare the meal together under the guidance of the instructor.  Class consists of a brief discussion of recipes and/or demonstration; cooking time; and a moment to enjoy the prepared recipes. We structure hands-on classes to enable all participants to cook.

  • Please dress in casual clothing and comfortable, closed-toed shoes, with hair restrained (men & women).

  • Hands-on classes are limited to 10 students and last from 2.5-3.0 hours-or as noted.

  • Participation in a hands-on class places you in a typical cooking environment with inherent risk. By registering for a cooking event you agree to release the staff, employees and contractors, from all liability arising from direct or indirect damages or injury.

  • We reserve the right to substitute menu items and ingredients due to availability.

  • As a participant, you agree to be photographed or filmed and give permission to use your likeness in promotional materials
